A Pre-flight Announcement for Caprock...

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.  These are your pilots speaking.  On behalf of your Keller-based flight crew, we’d like to welcome you aboard Caprock flight 2012, service from Academically Unacceptable to United.  We are currently first in line for take-off, and are expecting an on-time departure in approximately 15 hours.  We ask that you please fasten your seatbelts, engage your mind, and secure all of your carry-on baggage beneath your seat or in an overhead compartment.  We recognize that some gators carry a particularly heavy load, and/or have baggage that they cannot possibly manage alone.  Please help us as teachers, counselors, administrators, and staff to recognize those needs and address them.

Per Federal law, smoking is prohibited on this flight and careful attention must be paid to RtI, 504, and Special Education requirements.  Complete details regarding these programs can be found in the brochure on the collaboration site in front of you.  If you have any questions, or if you feel you are unable to perform these duties, please contact your flight administrator.

Please take a moment to review our safety procedures.  There are 11 emergency exits on our building.  In the case of an emergency, please note the exit closest to you; however, do not allow strangers to enter and do not allow children to leave unaccompanied.  Should we experience a sudden increase in cabin pressure, particularly around STAAR season, remember to stay calm and breathe normally.  As we are traveling with small children, it is advisable to secure your anxiety first so that you can help them address theirs.  In the unlikely event of a stress landing, life vests can be found next door or across the hall, and are frequently equipped with chocolate.

Our flight time this year will be approximately 177 days, depending on snow and ice conditions in February.  While this aircraft is certified for operation above exemplary, our cruising altitude this year depends entirely on the passion, energy, dedication, and teamwork of our flight crew.  Current conditions in United are clear and 78’ with a slight breeze; however, we do anticipate turbulence in the weeks and months ahead, so we ask that you keep your seatbelt fastened about your waist and remember to lean on one another.

We understand that most gators have no choice when selecting an airline to fly, so we choose to make this the best learning experience imaginable.  We can’t afford to sit back or relax, but we will absolutely enjoy the flight.

Teachers, prepare for departure and cross-check.  It’s time to fly!

(Editorial Note: Our teachers had to envision a destination for the year.  They voted and chose a concept, "United")
